Sensex surges 2,000 points after Exit polls predict BJP victory
BJP MP Locket Chatterjee has alleged that a Trinamool Congress (TMC) agent was caught red-handed at a polling booth in Hooghly, instructing voters to cast their ballots for TMC candidate Rachana Banerjee. "An AASHA worker was made to sit as a booth agent in lieu of money. She has been instructed to ask people to vote for Rachana. She is a Trinamool agent working as an assistant in booths asking people to vote for TMC. There is no other party slip with her," Chatterjee told. The incident occurred at booth number 117 in Dhaniakhali, sparking immediate controversy.
Chatterjee stated that when confronted, the woman failed to provide satisfactory answers and mentioned being directed by higher officials who were untraceable. "She could not say anything when countered. She said that she had been instructed by some 'Sir' who could not be found," Chatterjee added. The police claimed the woman was managing the queue, which Chatterjee disputed due to the low voter turnout at the time. Chatterjee intends to report the incident to the Election Commission, amid ongoing voting for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections across 49 constituencies.
